I liked the premise on this one. It follows two people for 17 years (1988-2005), letting the reader see snapshots of their lives on 7/15 for each of these years. Sometimes they are together, sometimes they are apart, sometimes they are friends, sometimes they have not spoken in years. Overall it was a quick, entertaining, fun read.
It would have been a 2 except that Nicholls surprised me by killing off a main character. It might have been a 4 if they didn't have so many momentous things (meeting, vacationing in Greece, finally sleeping together for the first time in Paris, and her death) all happen on 7/15. Really, that was just too much. I liked that mostly 7/15 was just a random day in their lives, it would have been better if some of these things did not happen on this day.
Nice vacation beach read, nothing fabulous.
